#JSCW Foundation, Inc.

Hello HoneyBees,

This is my first official post of 2017 and why not write my first post on something important. The JSCW Foundation is the Jasmine Sickle Cell Warriors Foundation. This foundation was founded by Ja’Quan R. Phillips to inform our community about Sickle Cell.

The name Jasmine Sickle Cell Warriors Foundation came about because the founder of the foundation lost his sister Jasmine at age 20 years old to sickle cell disease on June 13, 2014. Though she had sickle cell she didn’t let that stop her from following her dreams. Jasmine  was a member on a well known step team in Rocky Mount, NC and also participated in many other extra curricular activities despite her disease.  She would never let her having sickle cell stop her from doing what she wanted to do. With this foundation we will give kids that same chance, by empowering kids and teaching them that they should  not let their disease stop their dreams. “I have sickle cell and sickle cell does not have me.” is the motto. We will also educate their family’s & friends who want to know more about sickle cell and the trait.

For those of you who do not know, Sickle Cell Disease is a group of blood disorders typically inherited from one or both parents. To learn more about Sickle Cell Disease visit National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. To donate, help volunteer & keep up with events you can follow this foundation on most social media sites below.
